An Engage with Kosovo Ministers and Diaspora Community in New York Meeting

Movement Self-Determination! – The Center in the USA participated in a meeting together with the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports Hajrullah Çeku, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Lisa Gashi at the premises of the Consulate of Kosovo in New York. Self-Determination! also invited well-known figures in the arts operating in the USA in order to engage in dialogue with the Ministers about cultural developments in the Albanian world, as well as about the process of registering the population of Kosovo, both within and outside its borders.

Minister Çeku highlighted the achievements of this ministry, describing it as the ministry with the highest budget for 2024, which undoubtedly influences Kosovo’s presentation abroad.

The Self-Determination Movement had the opportunity to inform Mr. Çeku and Mrs. Gashi about the needs of the Albanian community in the USA, especially after the meetings we are holding with the community within the framework of the Tribunes. Deputy Minister Gashi informed the Chairman of Self-Determination Edmond Pruthi that with the new law on Diplomatic and Consular Services, the needs for establishing new consular offices in the USA will be reassessed, among which either at the rank of Economic Attaché, or a full consular office even in Detroit – Michigan, which was also a request from the community there.

We also agreed that with the addition of projects of young people living in the USA, their greater participation in political and diplomatic life in Kosovo should be facilitated, as there are active projects where young Albanians in the diaspora can participate.
