Self-Determination Movement! – The Center in the USA, as part of its tour of visits across America, has held the next Tribune in Detroit, Michigan. At the library of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Southfield, the head of this religious institution, Father Dom Dino, welcomed our Center’s Chairman Edmond Pruthi, Secretary Fadil Bajraliu, Subcommittee Coordinator Tim Jaha, and Erblin Murtezaj from our Media and Communication Secretariat. Father Dom Dino briefed Mr. Pruthi on community developments and the ongoing communications that this Church maintains with the Albanian homeland.
The Tribune continued with a meeting with some of the entrepreneurs from the Albanian lands who are engaged in public and business life in Michigan. A direct connection with the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Trade in the Government of Kosovo, Rozeta Hajdari, was established with the attendees via video link. In addition to the successes and facilitations that the Government of Kosovo has provided for Albanian and foreign investors, the attendees were also interested in the ways Michigan businessmen can invest in Kosovo in the future, mainly in the metal sector related to the automotive production industry.
The Tribune participants raised the need for a representation of Kosovo in Michigan at the level of an Economic Attaché, who not only would organize the Albanian community in this state but would also be a necessary bridge with the homeland.
Continuing the activities in Michigan, another meeting was also held with the director of the Albanian Islamic Center in Michigan, Imam Shuajb Gërguri. The investment made in this religious temple is accompanied by the establishment of four classes where around 80 children from various Albanian regions learn Albanian. The expansion of this center is currently considered the largest, and the Albanian Muslim community in Michigan continues to support it financially. An agreement has been reached that, for the benefit of our community, the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Education of Kosovo should provide books and materials for the education of grades 1 to 9 in the USA.
Father Dom Dino and Imam Gërguri called for the unification of Albanians in strengthening our states and the overall development of Albanians, both in the homeland and in the diaspora.
In both meetings, the Self-Determination Movement! – The Center in the USA, informed the attendees about the population registration procedures, the new Law on Elections in Kosovo, and the work of our Organization. New memberships were also established at these meetings, and the Working Group of the Point in Michigan was also created.
